THE BRAND

We propose fine pieces, entirely made by hand, in Belgium. Pieces that bring together timeless craftsmanship and bold contemporary statements. Through continuous research and explorations, we develop shoes like stories: flowers suspended in glass-like heels, leather applications opening up to reveal a bright satin underlay… Or this time we tripled the size of a tiny pump by applying a fur-like sisal mat on it. It looked like it was bursting open.


Truth is, we work to-order because we look for a privileged contact with our customer. It just seems best practice, and it allows us to constantly perfect our craft.

Adult explores ways for attire to emulate freedom. And sometimes, we might surprise you with pieces that have nothing to do with shoes.

THE DESIGNER

Raphaële was trained as a fashion designer at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. Using design as a starting point, her process is arborescent: the destination isn't established but rather the result of unexpected encounters. The red thread is Raphaële's fundamentally disruptive mindset, and playfulness in execution.

With Adult, Raphaële explores a core value of her practice: social activation through attire. The art is what happens when someone is choosing to place themselves in an unexpected situation.

Raphaële has a global practice encompassing leather-work, fashion design, painting, photography and writing.

Who is behind the brand?

A small team comprising a designer and a semiologist, as well as a few technical collaborators. Our common ground is commitment on material experimentation, sculptural form, and the poetry of imperfection.

When will my order ship? (And can it come faster?)

All Adult pieces are made-to-order in Antwerp, unless indicated otherwise in the product description. For shoes on constant offer (Frescoes, CandyMelt, Bunny Slippers) the production time is 4-6 working weeks. Orders are shipped as soon as they pass the final quality control.

However, we remain flexible and more than open-to-talk. Please contact us at info@adult-attire.com if you need a faster delivery.

Why does my pair look slightly different from the one online?

All technical elements of the pair you bought are identical as the one online. But when it comes to details we intend it to stand out. Each piece is finished by hand, meaning your pair has its own brushstroke, its own gradient, its own mood. You didn’t order a clone, that's why you got an original. 

When the fit says "tight", how tight are we talking? And what size should I order?

Tight as in purposefully sculpted. Adult boots are designed to hug, not to forgive. If you’re between sizes, we recommend going up half a size for comfort.

I struggle to find shoes that fit me. How do I know these ones will?

We are a small brand looking to produce some samples for a special project. What is your MoQ?

We have no MoQs, and most of your leather footwear ideas can be executed by us. We are happy to discuss the specifics of your project at info@adult-attire.com .
